Installation
Complete guide to installing and setting up TheCompanyApp on your iOS or iPadOS device.
System Requirements
Device Compatibility
iPhone: iPhone 8 or later
iPad: iPad (5th generation) or later, all iPad Pro models, iPad Air (3rd generation) or later, iPad mini (5th generation) or later
Software Requirements
iOS: Version 16.0 or later
iPadOS: Version 16.0 or later
iCloud: Active iCloud account (required for data sync)
Storage: At least 500 MB free space (more recommended for large inventories with images)
Network Requirements
Internet Connection: Required for initial setup and CloudKit sync
Offline Support: Full functionality available offline, syncs when connection restores
Installation Methods
Method 1: App Store (Production)
Note: TheCompanyApp is currently in development. Check App Store availability.
Open the App Store on your device
Tap the Search tab
Search for "TheCompanyApp"
Tap GET or the price button
Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or Apple ID password
Wait for download and installation to complete
Tap OPEN to launch the app
First Launch Setup
iCloud Configuration
TheCompanyApp requires iCloud to function. On first launch:
iCloud Sign-In Check
App verifies you're signed in to iCloud
If not signed in, you'll see a prompt
Sign In to iCloud (if needed)
Open Settings on your device
Tap your name at the top
Tap iCloud
Sign in with your Apple ID
Return to TheCompanyApp
Grant iCloud Access
When prompted, tap OK to allow iCloud access
This enables CloudKit synchronization
Notification Permissions
For task alerts, low stock warnings, and team updates:
Notification Permission Request
On first launch, iOS will ask for notification permission
Tap Allow to enable notifications
Configure Later (optional)
If you skip, you can enable later in:
Settings app → TheCompanyApp → Notifications
Camera Access (For Barcode Scanning)
When you first use the QR/Barcode scanner:
Camera Permission Request
iOS will ask for camera access
Tap OK to enable scanning
Enable Later (if needed)
Settings app → TheCompanyApp → Camera → Enable
Post-Installation Verification
Verify iCloud Sync
Open Settings app
Tap your name → iCloud
Scroll to Apps Using iCloud
Ensure TheCompanyApp is listed and enabled
Verify Storage
Open Settings app → General → iPhone/iPad Storage
Find TheCompanyApp
Check available space for documents and data
Troubleshooting Installation
"Unable to Download App"
Cause: Network or App Store issue Solution:
Check internet connection
Restart device
Try downloading again
"Cannot Connect to iCloud"
Cause: Not signed in or iCloud disabled Solution:
Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud
Ensure iCloud is enabled
Sign in if needed
Relaunch app
"App Requires iOS 16.0"
Cause: Device running older iOS version Solution:
Settings → General → Software Update
Update to latest iOS version
Reinstall app
Updating the App
App Store Updates
Open App Store
Tap your profile icon (top right)
Scroll to Available Updates
Tap Update next to TheCompanyApp
Auto-update (recommended):
Settings → App Store → App Updates → Enable
Uninstalling
If you need to remove TheCompanyApp:
Delete App
Long-press app icon on home screen
Tap Remove App → Delete App
Confirm deletion
Data Retention
Your data remains in iCloud
Reinstalling restores all data
To permanently delete data:
Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage
Apps & Data → TheCompanyApp → Delete Data
Multi-Device Setup
To use TheCompanyApp on multiple devices:
Install on Each Device
Follow installation steps above
Sign in with same Apple ID on all devices
Automatic Sync
Companies you own sync to all your devices via Private Database
Companies you participate in sync via Shared Database
No manual configuration needed
Company Selection
Company selection is device-local
Each device can have a different selected company
Switching companies on one device doesn't affect others
